''Paeonia caucasica'' is a peony native to the Caucasus. Its preferred habitats are meadows and clearings in the mountain forests, from foothills to subalpine zones. It is a taprooted plant with thick horizontal rhizome and leafy stems of heights ranging from 70-100 cm. Leaves are biternate, with lobes elongate-ovate or elongate-elliptical with greyish wax and short sparse hairs beneath. Flowers are large, single, and 8-10 cm in diameter; they are often bright crimson, sometimes pink. == References ==
